O2 Ireland announces Free Calls for Business to over 1.5 million O2 mobile users

Dublin - Monday 10th April, 2006

O2 Ireland has today announced a major new business pricing initiative for the business sector which will allow free calls to over one and a half million O2 customers in Ireland*.

The new “Business Unlimited” proposition gives free O2 to O2 calls in Ireland for a flat fee of €20 a month (ex VAT) per user. For small and medium sized businesses, an average of 40% of calls are to O2 mobiles, therefore this new initiative represents huge potential savings.

The cost of business calls to non-O2 mobiles or landlines will be 20 cent per minute.

The announcement marks the second major business initiative by O2 Ireland this year. In February, 2006, O2 became the first operator in Ireland to abolish roaming charges for business customers between Ireland and Northern Ireland and between Ireland and the UK.

Commenting on the launch of “Business Unlimited”, Paul Farrell, director of marketing, O2 Ireland, said, “This move goes far beyond free calls internally between work colleagues. In effect this new package gives business customers free calls to a community of over one and a half million people whether they are colleagues, customers, suppliers, friends or family. This announcement will shake up the business market and means that we have the best and most transparent business pricing offer.”

“Business Unlimited” will be backed by a major national advertising campaign which kicks off today, April 10th.
