INSERO builds O2 solution for Fleming Construction

Dublin, April 10th 2007

Fleming Construction has installed a site access control system from INSERO, powered by O2, which ensures accurate electronic timesheets and compliance with Health and Safety regulations. Each worker or visitor to the site is provided with a bar-coded ID card, which is swiped by a handheld barcode reader, so that the timesheet and trade skill information is wirelessly transferred back over the O2 network.

The solution called SITEINTELL uses the latest O2 mobile technology and has been developed by O2’s Partner, INSERO, for Fleming’s 600 users in Ireland but can also be used in any of the Fleming construction sites throughout the UK. It has significantly reduced the man hours spent managing site as staff can now clock in and out electronically and in real-time. The solution can maintain an up-to-date list of all Safe Pass holders, which, in the case of an emergency or evacuation, is a vital requirement within the EU’s Health and Safety regulations for the construction industry.

Damien Sheridan, IT and Communications Manager, Fleming Group adds, “We have cut administration costs by 40 percent with this SITEINTELL solution. One of the key benefits is that there is no hardware or software installation necessary on site - in the construction industry, where site locations change all the time, this element is crucial for us. The solution can also be used for tracking sub-contractor hours so that Fleming knows exactly how much time a sub-contractor has worked on a particular site thus pin-pointing project costs much more accurately.”

Billy D’Arcy, Head of Business Sales and Services, O2 Ireland comments, “This system is a fantastic example of the many ways in which mobile technology is evolving and assisting businesses of all types in streamlining their operations and increasing efficiency.”

Tony Byrne, Business Development Director, INSERO explains, “It cuts out the traditional pen and paper pushing and eliminates the “buddy punching” system where one construction worker clocks in for his friend when he is not there. Construction sites are a hive of activity with deliveries of materials arriving at frequent intervals. Managing these deliveries effectively has traditionally been a time consuming and costly exercise. With SITEINTELL construction companies can track deliveries, verify orders and delays can be rectified.”
