No risk for Sisk with O2's secure remote access tool

Dublin, Ireland - Monday July 6 2009 - Construction Company John Sisk and Son has installed AccessMyLan from O2, providing its nationwide workforce with easy and secure remote access to desktop and internal business applications while out of the office. Sisk has also signed up to O2's Mobile Broadband service giving employees the freedom to access the Internet in the office, from home, or on the road using a portable USB modem.

AccessMyLan allows users to securely connect to internal business applications via laptops or handheld devices, allowing a company of any size to enjoy the benefits of being able to work remotely. Not only does the service keep staff connected on-the-go but the initial installation only takes 10 minutes and doesn't require professional technical assistance.

Sisk's Infrastructure Manager, Daragh Doohan explains, "We were looking for a fast, easy to set-up solution at low cost that didn't require armies of techies to install or maintain additional hardware. In construction we travel around a lot from site to site so O2 was the obvious choice for working on the move and came with the added bonus of remote access to the company servers with AccessMyLan."

Ronan Whelan, Head of Enterprise, O2 adds, "The implementation process is very straightforward and as staff don't need to physically travel back to the office to check their PC, it saves the company time and money."

Independent research into teleworking, conducted by TNS mrbi on behalf of O2 Ireland, shows that almost half (45%) of Irish managers in Ireland's small and medium sized enterprises telework from home at least one day a month.

Doohan continues, "AccessMyLan gives our staff the flexibility to telework but has allowed us to keep control as we can monitor activity and make sure laptops and phones are being used for work and not just browsing on the web. As well as teleworking, security was also another important element for us and even though staff are accessing confidential business material remotely, with O2 we're safe in the knowledge that everything is secure and protected as all traffic is directed via our Corporate Network."

AccessMyLan from O2 is a subscription-based service charged monthly. The service costs from €15 per month per user. For more information and a free 15 day trial visit www.o2.ie/accessmylan.
