Daily Data Roaming

Rewarding you with some free data each day, to help reduce your roaming costs

What is it?

If you are a Bill pay customer and where data roaming coverage is available, you can browse the internet on your mobile, dip into your e-mail on your Blackberry, or surf the web using Mobile broadband whenever you like, with the peace of mind of knowing that each day, once you have paid for the daily chargeable data, you will then have a daily data allocation of upto 50MBs to use for free.

How does it work?

When you use data when roaming within a 24 hour period (00:00 to 23:59 Irish time) and whether it's just a few e-mails or multiple internet sessions, we'll count it up and it will appear on your bill as a daily charge. There is no need to worry about what network you select, as we charge the same data rate, regardless of what network you land on.You will also benefit from in zone country travel, being that if you change country within a zone, your usage will continue to be counted up to help you reach the free allocation of data.

So, if you are in Paris in the morning and Madrid in the afternoon, you won't pay different rates for the various networks that you land on, or any extra if you roam into a different country within the zone on your day of travel.

There's no need to Opt in, as the daily data rates are available to all our Bill pay customers who have roaming activated**.

It is not a subscription service either, so you don't have to pay every day, only the days you use it. There is a limit for the free daily use, but it is 50Mb and examples of how 50Mbs can be consumed, are explained below. If you go over the 50Mb usage allowance, we charge the same rates in Kilo bytes for the excess usage and this will appear on a different line of your bill as an excess charge.

What can I do for 50Mb?

To put 50Mb in context, when you access the Mobile Internet, each page you download averages 10kbsin size, so whether it's to stay in touch with your friends using your e-mail or accessing the news & sport, it won't require a lot of web page downloads to keep you upto date. A full music track from O2's mobile music store is approx 1.3Mb, so in order to exceed the daily cap of 50Mb you'd have to download over 38 full music tracks each day! If you are a Blackberry user the average e-mail is 15kb in size, so over 3000 e-mails per day would have to pass through your inbox.
