What is i-mail™ ?

i-mode® phones offer you an impressive messaging tool called i-mail™ , which is so powerful you can stay up to date, be it for work or pleasure, all the time. i-mail™ is text, picture messaging and email all wrapped into one, with space for up to 4,000 characters of text. You can send and receive i-mail™ s to both mobiles and email addresses for just 15c per message sent whether you’re at home or abroad - you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

i-mail™ can be sent to any email address or Irish mobile, with or without attachments – just like regular email. If you receive a reply, you'll receive an alert just like a text message telling you you’ve got a new i-mail™ .

How do I…

…get an I-mail™ address?

Every i-mode® phone comes with its own i-mail™ address, this is your mobile number @o2imail.ie, for example: 086123456789@o2imail.ie. You can change this address to whatever you like (as long as it's unique) simply by selecting 'i-mail™ settings' within 'My Email'.

…send i-mail™ ?

Follow these simple steps:

  1. Select the "message button" (envelope) on your i-mode® phone
  2. Select "Compose mail" from the menu
  3. Enter the address / mobile number that you are sending your i-mail™ to
  4. Enter the subject and enter your message
  5. You can attach pictures, sound clips or other files if you like
  6. Click on "Send"

Remember you can send i-mail™ to up to 5 people in the same mail and only be charged for the price of one message.

…use I-mail™ abroad?

You can use i-mode® and i-mail™ in any country where O2 has a GPRS roaming agreement with another mobile network.
