When you’re abroad, it’s reassuring to know how much it costs to use your phone. You don’t want to be afraid to turn your phone on. So we wanted to put you in control, and take the mystery out of how much it costs to use your phone abroad.
With our new O2 Travel rates, you can call home to Ireland from 79 countries for 30c per minute, plus a connection charge of 80c or €1.11, depending what part of the world you’re calling from.
To receive a call all you pay is the connection charge and not a cent more.
We’ve put together two tables to show you where you can get these new rates.

Travelling to Britain or Northern Ireland now costs less with O2 Travel
If you’re travelling to Britain or Northern Ireland on the O2 UK Network, you don’t have to pay any connection charge to make or receive a call. All you pay is 30c per minute to make a call. And you don’t pay a cent to receive one.

Questions
So how does it work?
Say you’re on holiday in Spain, and you call a Spanish mobile or landline, or someone back in Ireland. All you pay is the connection charge of 80c, and then 30c per minute.
If you receive a call when you’re in Spain, you just pay the 80c connection charge and nothing else.
Now let’s say you’re in the USA and you call a mobile or landline there, or someone in Ireland. You still only pay 30c per minute for the call. But the connection charge this time is €1.11.
And if you receive a call, you only pay the connection charge of €1.11
How do I get the O2 Travel rates?
Getting the O2 Travel rates is easy. Just freetext TRAVEL to 50202 or login to My Account under Extra Services and click the activate button. Or you can pop into any O2 store.
I’m a prepay customer. Can I get the O2 Travel rates?
Yes, O2 Travel is now available for all our customers both prepay and billpay.
Do I have to select a different network when I’m abroad to get the O2 Travel rates?
You’ll get the O2 Travel rates on any network when you’re abroad. So you don’t have to worry about selecting another network.
What if I’m in a country where the O2 Travel rates don’t apply?
If you’re in a country other than the 79 where you can get the O2 Travel rates, then the standard roaming rates in that country apply.
** If you are a bill pay customer and have the UK roaming add on, you will continue to avail of these special rates in the UK.
